Request for sponsorship of the 1st Japanese Society for Cultured Foods Conference

June 30, 2025

Chairman of the 1st Japanese Society for Cultured Foods Conference Tatsuya Shimizu, Institute of Advanced Biomedical Sciences, Tokyo Women's Medical University

Dear Sir/Madam, We hope you are in good health and prosperity. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support.

In response to the global trend toward health and growing awareness of food shortages and food waste, the Society was established in April 2025 as the Japanese Society for Cultured Foods, a general incorporated association. This organization was formerly known as the Cultured Food Research Group, which was established in 2019 by researchers who are working on or interested in developing new food production technologies based on cell culture.

The goal is to develop technologies and develop human resources related to cultured foods, as well as to bring safe, secure, healthy, and delicious sustainable cultured foods to our dinner tables. We scientifically systematize the latest findings in cultured food research conducted by various institutions, and by promoting mutual collaboration and integration, we accelerate progress in this field and provide scientific evidence for the nutritional value and safety of new foods. By promoting these efforts, we aim to solve the problem of future food shortages and contribute to the co-creation of food that contributes to a sustainable global environment.

To further expand the society's activities and philosophy, we are holding our first conference. This commemorative inaugural conference will be themed "Future Food Frontier: Creating Rich Food from Cells." We hope to contribute to the advancement of cultured food research by bringing together university and corporate researchers currently at the forefront of cultured food research to discuss current achievements, challenges, and future goals. We also hope that by welcoming a wide range of participants, this conference will serve as a springboard for expanding and establishing this developing research field. This conference will focus on a wide range of research, from fundamental cell culture technology to technological development and rule-making for industrialization, as well as social acceptance associated with changes in food culture. We will bring together researchers active in a variety of new research fields, including researchers active in academia in Japan, overseas, and at startup companies. We are planning an engaging program that will allow participants to learn about the current state of new food production technologies.

The conference will be run primarily through the participation fees of members, but we would appreciate your support and understanding of the purpose of the conference to ensure it is a fruitful event.

Although I would normally visit you in person to express my gratitude, I regret to inform you that I am writing this letter to ask for your participation and support in the tournament.

Sincerely,

Statement of Purpose
